getting ready for easter

Lent is the 40-day season leading up to Easter. Lent invites us to slow down, reflect on Jesus' journey to the cross, and prepare our hearts to fully celebrate the joy of Easter. At Green’s Farms Church, Lent is a meaningful opportunity to deepen your relationship with God, connect with others, and discover practices that can enrich your spiritual life. Whether you're new to Lent or have observed it for years, we invite you to explore the opportunities below and find ways to journey through this season with us.

Stitch the story of lent

Our Crafting Circle is looking for volunteers of all skill levels to create a Lenten Worship Banner for our Meetinghouse. The large purple banner features eight felt panels inspired by scripture, with new panels added each week in worship. Most work will take place on Sundays at 11:00am in the Loft Space. There are many ways to help, from cutting and tracing to simple sewing and assembly. Contact Jennifer Meagher or head up to the Loft Space after service.

Listen for god’s voice

During Lent, Adult Bible Study will explore our shared longing for deeper connection with God in a fragmented, noisy world, guided by St. Augustine’s words, “Our hearts are restless, Lord, until they rest in thee.” The group meets Sundays at 9:00am in the Flex Space, and each week will reflect on Scripture themes that move from recognizing our need for God to quieting ourselves, connecting in community, repairing relationships, facing fear with faith, embracing doubt, and practicing humility.

Grow with god

Children Grades 5 and below are getting ready for Easter by exploring Lent as a season for connecting with God and learning about finding peace when everything is spinning. Through hands-on activities, games, music and (of course!) Bible stories, children will move from recognizing our need for God to finding quiet with Him, growing in friendship and community, to facing our fears with the help of faith, where questions are always encouraged. Serve with purpose

Service is a core practice of Lent, inviting us to turn outward in care for others. Throughout the season, we encourage you to participate in our Socks & Undies Drive, donating new socks and underwear to support Open Doors, Homes with Hope and Mercy Learning Center. Additional service opportunities, such as cooking and serving meals, or supporting GFC’s on-going efforts such as the Icthus Group’s Necessity Bags can be found by visiting our Serving Our Community page.

Gather & remember

Join us on April 2nd for Maundy Thursday Supper in Fellowship Hall at 6pm followed by worship in the Meetinghouse at 7:30pm. Maundy means “commandment” and recalls the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples when they broke bread together and Jesus commanded them to love one another. This reflective service features the reading of scripture, communion andsacred choral music, including Duruflé’s Ubi Caritas, as we prepare for Good Friday and Easter. RSVP here!

Celebrate the Joy of easter

Join us on Easter Sunday, April 5 as we proclaim the good news of Christ’s resurrection. Easter worship services will be held at 9:00am and 11:00am, featuring festive music with trumpets and the Hallelujah Chorus from Händel’s Messiah. For early risers, an ecumenical sunrise service will take place at 6:00am at Compo Beach, offering a beautiful and prayerful start to Easter morning.

Hunt for Easter Eggs

Families with young children are warmly invited to our Great Easter Egg Hunt, immediately following the 9:00am Easter service on Sunday, April 5. This joyful tradition celebrates the wonder and new life of Easter, bringing children together for a morning of laughter, excitement, and community. Kids will head outside just before the service concludes and, at the ringing of the bell, begin the hunt—searching for colorful eggs and sharing in the fun of the season. Please bring your own basket and join us for this festive and memorable Easter celebration!

Is This Your First GFC Easter Egg Hunt?

Here's What You Need to Know!

Who can hunt for Easter Eggs?
The Great Easter Egg Hunt is open to all children, Pre-K through Grade 5. Kids will hunt outside in three separate age-appropriate areas on church grounds. Coats and sensible shoes are recommended.

Do I need to be a GFC member to participate?
No! Family and friends are encouraged to join you at church and participate.

When does the Egg Hunt start?
The hunt begins immediately following the 9:00am Easter Service and typically lasts less than 15 minutes. For this reason, we strongly recommend all families planning to participate to attend the early service.

How will my child get from the classroom to the Egg Hunt?
Sunday School staff members will escort kids to their age-appropriate site. We encourage parents to exit the meetinghouse quickly and join their kids outside for the fun!

Does my child need to bring anything?
Easter baskets are welcome, but not necessary. GFC will have plenty of bags on hand for kids to store their Easter loot.

What’s inside the Easter Eggs?
The eggs will be filled with candy. If your child has allergies or if you have any concerns, please contact Children’s Ministry Director, Rosa Carbajal.

Will the Easter Bunny be there?
Of course! And available for family photos.
