Getting Ready
for Christmas
Hope. Peace. Joy. Love.
Join with Friends, Old and New, as We Lean into the Good News!
LISTEN FOR THE SPIRIT
Join Senior Minister Rev. Jeffrey Rider for a deep dive through Advent texts. Lectio Divina is an ancient spiritual practice requiring no prior experience or homework. Come grow in faith November 30, December 7, and 14 at 9am. Listening together provides powerful grounding for the sermon to follow.
LEARN CHRISTMAS CAROLS
There’s no better way to learn the traditional carols of Christmas than by singing! Join soloist Justice Yates as he leads the congregation in singing carols before worship, November 30, December 7, 14 and 21 at 10am. Whether you know the words or not, whether you can hold a tune or not (!), you are sure to catch the Christmas Spirit and be amazed by the sound we make!
DISCOVER ADVENT PROMISES
Worship in the Meetinghouse begins each week in Advent with a different GFC family leading us in prayer and lighting Advent candles. Experience this sacred time as we look ahead with hope, peace, joy and love to the coming of Christ.
CELEBRATE BABY JESUS
They love to tell the story! Our preschool through 5th graders are working hard preparing for this year’s Nativity Pageant, December 21 at 10AM. It’s an all-in all-joy affair with support from our Praise Band and the Middle School Youth Group. All children (visitors included!) are welcome to don a costume and join the fun at this meaningful celebration that is sure to warm your heart.
Come and Worship
On Christmas Eve, join us for our 5 PM Family-Friendly Service, where children receive a manger figure upon entering the Meetinghouse and help build the beautiful manger scene, concluding with traditional candle lighting. At 9 PM, our Traditional Lessons & Carols Service offers beloved readings, carols, and music from the choir, organ, and orchestra, along with a meaningful Christmas message from Rev. Jeffrey Rider, ending once again in the warmth of candlelight.
