Associate Minister, Faith Formation

Sophie Beal joined GFC in August 2024 as a Pastoral Resident and, after two years serving and growing alongside our congregation, now serves as GFC’s Associate Minister, Faith Formation. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Sophie is a graduate of Yale Divinity School, where she focused on New Testament interpretation and Reformed theological studies. She loves working with faith communities to encourage questions and empower people of all ages to deepen their engagement with the Bible and one another. Sophie grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and now lives in Hamden with her husband Eric, their three cats, and a very slobbery Great Dane named Titus. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out in coffee shops, reading poetry by Emily Dickinson, teaching Pure Barre classes, and dancing to Taylor Swift.
