People from many faith backgrounds and none at all come together at Green’s Farms Church to discover the God revealed in Jesus Christ and practice faith as a way of life. As our Covenant says: “Our ideal is a church of the open mind, the warm heart, the aspiring soul, and the social vision which ever seeks to express, in all walks of life, the mind and spirit of Jesus.”

Children and Youth

We help children and their families experience and share the love of God.

We encourage each child to develop a personal relationship with the God revealed in Jesus Christ.  We strive to welcome everyone, whoever they are and wherever they are on life's journey, to share the good news, and to join us in serving others and sharing the great love of God.

INFANTS, TODDLERS & TWOS

You are always welcome to bring little ones into the Meetinghouse for worship, or if you want to leave the service to take care of your infant, you can find our Parlor above our Fellowship Space next to the Meetinghouse - ask an usher for directions. You can watch the service there, too. Or you can take advantage of our nursery - an usher can show you where to go.

KINDERGARTEN TO FIFTH GRADE

On Sunday mornings, children and teens worship with their families for the first 10 minutes of the service, then go to classroom for Sunday School. LaQruishia Gill, Family Ministry Director and EmmaRae Carroll, Pastoral Resident, plus teaching interns from Yale Divinity School make learning about the Bible a hands-on experience, with science experiments, games, art projects, cooking – all ways for children to learn what it means to be disciples by praying, laughing, forgiving, and learning Bible stories.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

On Sunday mornings during the school year, 6th-8th graders explore the stories and lessons of our faith through activities and discussions. On Tuesdays Middle Schoolers gather for fun, fellowship, and faith. Our confirmation program gives 8th graders the chance to grapple with the big questions about a life of knowing and loving God.

HIGH SCHOOL

High Schoolers meet weekly for conversation, fun activities and fellowship. They also have the chance to experience living their faith during an annual Mission Trip.

Scripture tells us that we are better together than we are alone.

God wants us to grow in faith together. When we deepen relationships with others, we deepen our relationship with Him.

FAITH FORMATION

On Sunday mornings before worship we meet to read the Bible together, share our faith journeys and learn with one of our ministry team. As a church, we read a book together during Lent.

A HOUSE UNITED

The earliest Christians were a diverse group from all parts of society, united by their allegiance to Jesus. We want to grow our ability to love each other, even if we disagree on important topics. Led by Rev. Dr Allen Hilton, founder and leader of the House United Movement, we periodically debate global, national and local issues, all while listening for the word of God speaking through others.

WOMAN’S GROUP

Every week there are prayers, laughter, tears and inspiration as the women of Green’s Farms Church come together to read a book or study the Bible. The group is inter-generational, warm and welcoming. They meet 10 am on Thursdays (child care is available), and for a spring retreat.

MEN’S GROUP

The men’s ministry comes together for a Second Saturday Breakfast at 8:00 am at the church.

SENIORS

GFC seniors build fellowship with events include evenings of music at the Levitt Pavilion, theater and movie trips, and lunches with special guests. The group also visits and calls members who cannot attend as regularly as they would like to.

Community Outreach

Through long-standing relationships with non-profit partners, we support the poor, dispossessed and those in need of Christ’s love in our community and in the wider world.

Every year, we donate 12% of the church’s income to a dozen organizations, some of whom we have supported for more than 30 years. Our members – including our children and teens – regularly undertake service projects and mission trips. On Service Day each fall, the whole church goes out to work with our community partners in Norwalk, Westport and Bridgeport.

Serve dinner at Gillespie Center

We provide hot meals at the emergency shelter run by Homes with Hope in downtown Westport twice a month. Buy or cook dinner for 25 people and deliver by 3:30 pm on a Wednesday or Friday or stay to serve the meal at 4:30 pm.

Deliver meals to the Open Door Shelter, Norwalk

On one Sunday a month, our Middle School Youth Group packs 200 lunches for Norwalk’s emergency shelter. Drivers needed to deliver the meals on Mondays by 11:30 am. Email Jennifer Putman if you can help.

Service Day

Once a year, the whole church spends a Sunday working on service projects for our partners: Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Pivot Ministries, Homes with Hope, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Recovery Community Development, and Open Doors Shelter. Email Jennifer Putman for information, and sign up in the fall.

Drive, deliver, comfort

Our deacons deliver flowers to those in need of care or with something to celebrate, provide rides to church, send messages of comfort, support families at memorial services and more. If you would like to add your name to the caring crew, email Jennifer Putman .

PROVIDE A WELCOME

In a community like Westport, where many families come and go, GFC provides a welcome church home. Being the friendly face that greets newcomers and regular attenders to worship and church events is an important ministry. Email Jennifer Putman you would like to say ‘welcome.’ Or sign up by clicking the button on the right.

SERVICE SUNDAY 2023

MUSIC

We worship with traditional church music, with our newly-renovated and extended pipe organ and Chancel Choir, plus talented musicians such as a string or brass ensemble for special services. And we worship with contemporary music, with guitars and drums and voices.

Dylan Sauerwald, Director of Music Ministry, is always ready to welcome new choir members, or any who would like to share their musical talents. Contact him at dylan@greensfarmschurch.org
