Confirmation is the group process whereby 8th graders explore their faith in anticipation of making an intentional decision to live their lives as committed Christians. On Tuesday evenings from January to May, ordained and lay leaders facilitate group discussions, reflection time, and faith adventures, helping our youth to more fully understand and commit to lives of faith.
Faith Adventures are opportunities for our Confirmands to personally experience the worship and ministry of other churches and faith-based organizations in our community. These young people also learn about the responsibilities of church membership by volunteering as Sunday morning ushers, greeters, coffee hour hosts, and providing dinner to class members on Tuesday evenings.
The confirmation process kicks off with an overnight retreat in January, which is an important opportunity for the class to form relationships and bond as a group. We meet on Tuesday evenings beginning in early January. The confirmation process culminates with the class being confirmed as members of the church in May. Questions about the upcoming confirmation class may be directed to our Associate Minister for Youth, Rev. Megan Cullip
After completing the confirmation program, the class is invited to join the annual week-long Youth Mission Trip in June. This trip serves to introduce the confirmands into the high school youth group, Icthus, and provides an awesome opportunity for them to get to know their older peers before entering high school.
