Confirmation is the process whereby Confirmands are given an opportunity to explore issues of faith in anticipation of making an intentional decision to live their lives as committed Christians.   This exploration is done within a group setting and is facilitated by a team of leaders led by Rev. Jeff Rider.  At each meeting we will explore a different theme and participate in activities relevant to the topic of discussion.  Confirmands will have an opportunity to take part in small group discussions, as well as time set aside for personal reflection.

Confirmation is for 8th graders and is a 5-month program beginning in January and ending May 20th, Confirmation Sunday.  The program kicks off with an overnight retreat at Incarnation Center on January 6th and 7th.  Click here for retreat details information.  A Service of Commissioning will place during worship on Sunday, January 8th.  Tuesday classes begin on January 10th and run from 6 until 7:30 p.m. with a break for dinner provided on a rotating basis by the Confirmation families.  Families will also participate on Sundays serving as Ushers, Greeters and Fellowship Hosts.
Schedules and instructions will be posted on website in early January. (if you are unable to fulfill your commitment, please find another family with whom to arrange a shift swap and notify Alison of the change):

Confirmands will participate in four Faith Adventures, giving class members a chance to experience first hand different church and faith-based organizations in our community.  (Dates and details will be published once they are finalized.) Confirmands will also learn about the responsibilities for becoming part of a family of faith by serving as ushers and coffee hour hosts on Sunday mornings, and hosting and serving dinner to class members on Tuesday nights.

The Confirmation Class is also invited to take part in our annual week-long Mission Trip in June.  This is a wonderful way to introduce them to the senior high program as they move forward on their faith journey.  There will be a Mission Trip information session for interested 8th graders on Sunday, December 4th during Sunday School.  Parents of interested students are invited to attend the info session on Thursday, November 30th at 7 p.m.

Confirmation is open to any and all interested eighth graders.  This year our leaders are: Jeff Rider,  Gary Domenico, Joanne Reeves, Karen Kosinski and Todd Shipley.  Any questions regarding Confirmation may be directed to Jeff Rider at jeffreyrider@mac.com or Alison Fisher at afisher@greensfarmschurch.org
