Children and Youth Ministry

Our church welcomes children and youth and offers worship, education and fellowship designed to encourage faith development for all ages from nurturing care in our nursery through quality instruction in Bible stories to mission trips for high schoolers.

Children's Program

NURSERY

We believe it’s possible to share the love of God with children under 36 months of age.  One way we can express this love is by providing a safe and nurturing environment for every child to grow in faith.  Our Nursery Program has a loving and committed staff and volunteers who minister to these little ones.  Nursery care is provided every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with extra time allotted for special congregational events such as adult education and fellowship receptions.

The Nursery is located in the Beginnings Day Care area and is supervised by Maureen Fay, a state licensed and certified childcare giver.

 WORKSHOP ROTATION SUNDAY SCHOOL

At Green’s Farms Church, we’re passionate about Sunday School!  We welcome children into an environment where they can feel God’s love.  We introduce them to God’s story as told in the Bible.  And we encourage each child to develop a personal relationship with God.

Preschool through kindergarten students meet in age appropriate classrooms led by trained volunteers and directed by an experienced teacher.  Grades 1 – 5 rotate to different workshops that become theaters, kitchens, garden centers, painting studios, etc., and are led by trained volunteers or subject matter experts under the guidance of Children’s Ministry Director, Lynn Rider.

We know that children learn best and retain what they learn longer when they are immersed in a fully interactive environment.  Children and their families are active and involved in their lessons through a variety of activities designed to reach many different kinds of learners.  When children are encouraged to learn by using their own unique gifts they come to know God and grow in faith in a way that makes sense to them, and ultimately informs every aspect of their lives.  Come join us and try Sunday School like you have never experienced it before!

Angels from our 2001 Christmas Pageant CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Green's Farms Church provides many opportunities for our young people to become active in the music program of the church. The Youth Choir, Christmas Program, and Youth Sunday is under the direction of  Eileen Hunt, Minister of Music.

Youth Program

The future of the church is in its young people.  At Green's Farms Church we strive to give our youth the Inspiration and High Ideals they need to guide them toward a living faith.  In turn, they inspire us with their support for each other, their probing questions and their desire to serve the larger community.  Our busy and involved young people bring a lively sense of curiosity and joy to our church.  At Green's Farms Church we are always looking for ways to make our growing youth programs even more engaging and relevant for middle and high school youth.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND CONFIRMATION

Middle School and confirmation groups are led by volunteers working in close cooperation with Senior Minister, Jeff Rider.  We are always in the process of evaluating our program for this age group and determining how best to meet their needs.  As we undertake that process, we offer Sunday morning education, as well as periodic field trips and activities.  On Sunday mornings, Karen Kosinski teaches the 7th and 8th grade class and Dawn Collins and Brad Cosgrove teach 6th grade.

Beginning in January, 8th graders will attend Tuesday evening confirmation classes, which will be taught by Jeffrey Rider and Amy Forté, and a team of three volunteers:  Gary Domenico, Thad Eidman and Karen Kosinski.  All five will act as mentors and assist with instruction.  Each of them has a passion for serving youth and a gift for connecting with kids.  We are grateful for their energetic commitment to the future of Green's Farms Church -- our youth.

YOUTH MINISTRY TEAM

High school students meet every Thursday evening for discussion of a wide range of issues related to faith.  They also get together socially and participate throughout the year in a variety of activities in preparation for an annual mission trip.  Last year's group, 16 strong, traveled to Grand Bahama Island where they built a community bath house for the homeless and led a Vacation Bible School for neighborhood children.  For the second year our Youth Ministry Team will be led by Amy Forté and Karen Kosinski.

HIGH SCHOOL MISSION TRIP
This annual trip is an opportunity for youth to explore the Christian faith through service while experiencing a distinctly different culture, a community in poverty or a disaster relief project.
